Position Description
 
Maple Leaf Pork in Lethbridge specializes in quick-chilled pork cuts for the markets of Japan and Singapore. The plant processes approximately 1,500 hogs per day during one 8- hour shift. It operates year round, 5 days per week.

Entry-level production work starts with packaging/wrapping non-knife type work. An employee is promoted and trained for a knife job with increased pay once seniority is achieved and a good work ethic is demonstrated. An employee will then learn increasingly technical knife work.

The ideal candidate is looking for full time, permanent employment and is:
Reliable and dependable, able to be at work everyday, on time
Able to work in a fast paced, repetitive task environment
Has the desire to learn and be the best at what they do
Physically fit and able to lift, push, and/or pull, weight of up to 27kg (60lbs)
Looking for a long-term job opportunity

The starting wage of $12.85 increases to $13.65 per hour after the employee has learned the basics and is ready to move to a more skilled position (usually within 2 weeks). Wage increases every 6 months for the fist 18 months of employment. A benefits package is available to employees and their eligible dependents commencing at 3 months (company paid). Maple Leaf Pork supplies all necessary safety equipment at no cost to the employee.
