Communications (Networking) Support Analyst

The Opportunity:
Maple Leaf Foods is looking for a Communications (Networking) Support Analyst that will provide support to our various locations. We are a dynamic environment that works with various forms of networking and computing technology. The role will not only encompass support of day to day operations but project work as well.  If you are chosen as our new Analyst, you will work not only on or networks but also our plant systems that utilize virtualized compute environments. The majority of our systems support our manufacturing plants and our key areas of effort around these facilities.  

A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

  •  Provide excellent customer service by execution of network technical projects and support operations that are designed to increase the business effectiveness of the Maple Leaf Foods infrastructure.
  • Participate in IS and Plant projects and represent the Infrastructure team.
  • Communicate technical issues in business terms to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Technical writing and documentation.
  • Follow/review standard operating procedures related to delivering effective preventative maintenance and solutions.
  • Participate in project related work inside and when required outside of normal business hours.
  • Participate in support work inside and when required outside of normal business hours.
  • You will be based in Mississauga with the opportunity to travel across North America and within the GTA based on business and project requirements.
  • Adhere to Infrastructure architecture governance and standards.
  • Provide infrastructure analysis as required.
  • Provide support for Maple Leaf Foods infrastructure.
  • Network Performance Report writing.
  • Perform Support work assisting the Communications and other various IS teams.

  • Deploy the latest WAN, LAN and Wireless Cisco Technology at our locations as well as support existing infrastructure.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be supporting:
    • Cisco Catalyst switches 2960, 3650, 3750, latest 9000 series
    • Cisco Router 1800, 1900 and 2800, 2900, 4000 series
    • Wireless Controllers like the Cisco 5508 and 2504 model
    • Cisco Voice Collaboration technology such as Cisco Call Manager and Unity 
  • Work closely with our end user compute and server teams assisting with deployments of servers as well as laptops and desktops
  • Support plant floor end user production systems that are connected to our network​
 What you will bring:
  • The successful applicant will possess job experience in the data LAN/WAN networking field and systems
  • Extensive experience in wireless and Cisco based wireless technology 
  • 3+ years in Data Network support and projects 
  • Candidate must have good knowledge of Windows and Linux based operations systems.
  • Candidate will be supporting Cisco technologies and therefore experience with this technology is a must
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in large or small groups
  • Ability to balance multiple initiatives and support, in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with the business on a non-technical level.
  • Flexible to a changing environment.
