As a key member of the Prepared Meats Marketing team, the Marketing Manager will lead the idea-generation, conceptualization and commercialization of new innovative products, categories, business models and go-to-market strategies. Providing expert knowledge of the innovation process, brand and consumer interactions, channel development and consumer communications campaigns with a diverse portfolio lens.
A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
Develop and execute highly important innovation and product strategies across multiple platforms to deliver growth to the company
Develop platforms from insight to concept, to strategy and through to commercialization
Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver innovations to market, with complete end-to-end commercialization accountability
Develop the sell story in close collaboration with internal Sales organization to influence customer sell-in across all channels
Help lead the annual business reviews & planning process of our innovation agenda
Coach colleague performance, skill development and achievement of professional aspirations
Track innovation success through regular monitoring of KPIs
Be a champion for and influence internally to contribute to the innovation culture at MLF
Develop innovation pipeline plans, consistent with Brands vision and standards and demand space insights
Key contributor to building an innovation and growth culture within Maple Leaf Foods through key innovation rhythms (PDP, Innovation planning process, cross-functional project team meetings, etc.)
Collaborate with finance, R&D and communications partners to manage innovation budget to ensure efficient spend and ongoing tracking/reporting

What you will bring:
Bachelor’s Degree plus track record of results within a CPG environment, preferably within an innovation department.
Must be proactive and performance driven, have a bias for action and be able to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Experience managing a large complex business with proven success in market with brand management and/or innovation launches.
A strong team player, mentor and coach to direct reports & cross-functional team members with well-developed “people interaction” skill set.
The ability to adapt easily to changing market dynamics and comfortable with ambiguity, while thriving on change and problem-solving.
Intellectual curiosity about food, consumers and data, ability to ask probing questions to get at rich insights and opportunities.
Ability to develop and sell-in business case plans for innovation and commercialization ideas.
Strong understanding of the innovation lifecycle process, from idea generation to launch; translating data and insights into executable ideas; and building robust multi-year innovation plans.
Comfort operating in a manufacturing setting preferred - ability to understand how innovation will be produced (i.e. manufacturing process -pilot to scale, raw materials required, costing, feasibility of plans, etc.)
General MLF Marketing competencies:
Commercial Acumen, Budget Planning & P&L Management – Solid understanding of key drivers of the budget process and P&L's with ability to recommend changes required to move the business forward. Set consumer pricing strategy for RSP& FSP with supporting propositions, programs and evaluations
Business Understanding and Insights - Demonstrates the ability to understand, manipulate and draw conclusions from internal & external data sources. Demonstrates ability to build, track, and course correct business plans to achieve targets.
Business Reviews & Plans – Leads the annual business reviews & planning process assessing current business. Plans include objectives and strategies for each opportunity, spending levels, pricing/costing assumptions, volume/consumption builds, risk analysis, and an integrated marketing calendar.
Sales Knowledge & Connectivity - Demonstrates understanding of customer strategies and motivations and applies to marketing planning process & initiative execution.
Strategic Leadership - Demonstrates big picture thinking with an ability to clearly articulate a strategic direction, justified with sound fact based rationale. Sells ideas and recommendations through to management convincingly.
Strategic Communications – To develop and execute disruptive and breakthrough marketing campaigns and creative.
