Field Service Representative - Edmonton
The Opportunity: Position key responsibilities are to work directly with broilers, broiler breeder pullets, hatching egg and broiler producers to improve on farm practices that improve and maintain bird health. Includes utilizing data collected through this work to continuously drive improvements related to animal care, animal health, and performance measures. A variety of lab, sampling, and quality functions may be required to be performed. Regular communication with producers, hatchery, processing facilities, live haul, and Technical Services Leader required.
A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
Provide field technical services to producers for the improvement of bird health;
Provide field technical services to producers on the Raised Without Antibiotics (RWA) program including but not limited to: regular monitoring of flock health through communication and interactions with producers, delivery of products required for program maintenance (requires physical activity);
Perform routine monitoring of poultry flock condition prior to loading;
Conduct necropsies on farms and/or submit birds to labs when required;
Establish and maintain a regular field presence for MLP;
Communicate actively with MLF Veterinarian to discuss special cases in the field;
Trial planning, scheduling and monitoring at farms;
Routine communication and training with producers, catchers and live transport crews of best practices;
Provide effective and timely responses to producer concerns/issues (may require flexible working hours at times)
Auditing of producer facilities to ensure practices are followed;
Support Q.A. programs and biosecurity protocols;
Conduct training of new personnel;
Assistance with data entry/analysis including but not limited to: pathogen results, performance results from on-farm trials, results of routine sampling;
Sampling and environmental monitoring procedures in poultry barns;
Assistance with training and/or on-site verification of sampling procedures when required;
Typing/compiling meeting or visit notes for sharing with broader team;
Assistance with preparation and/or revision of Standard Operating Procedures;
Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:
Post-Secondary education, could include Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or Food Science program
One to two years’ experience in agricultural or food industry
Poultry health and basic pathology knowledge and willingness to conduct necropsies in the field
Willingness to perform occasional physical activity
Ability to analyze results and create recommendations and opportunities for continuous improvement
Computer Skills: skilled user of Microsoft office applications and Excel graphing applications
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong problem-solving skills
Able to work independently and in a team environment
Organizational and time management skills
Good interpersonal skills
Must have a Class 5 driver’s license
