As part of Maple Leaf Food’s Information Solutions team, the Consultant, User Experience is responsible for the prioritization and execution of the innovative initiatives which address the complex user needs of our employees through application of User Experience practices.   The position reports to the IS Director, User Experience.

  • Enabling our workforce with flexible technology solutions under the ‘Modern Workplace’ Program; support ongoing Microsoft Office365 adoption plans and assess future applications
  • Optimize SAP adoption, introduce Fiori mobile apps or Screen Personas to simplify the user interface, enable mobility, apply user assessment metrics, and support a sustainable key user network
  • Apply a user-centered design approach to better enable segments of our workforce; establish and act upon a User Personas roadmap
  • Establish best practices in the area of User Experience to promote a competitive operating advantage enabled by technology


  • Lead execution of the User Experience strategy, identify and prioritize the supporting initiatives to maximize the business value impact
  • Collaborate with external consultant and agency resources to achieve execution goals and oversee knowledge transfer to the User Experience team
  • Create resource and budget estimates along with supporting project plans for User Experience opportunities; track and report progress against budget to the IS PMO
  • Facilitate weekly project scrum and bi-weekly sponsor sessions with an audience of senior executives
  • Review, seek clarification and validate requirements or artefacts applying the user-centered design approach to translate complex business needs into simple and elegant user experiences
  • Coordinate collaboration amongst User Experience team members, other IS teams and business resources
  • Lead creation and management of User Experience standards, guides, templates, and other assets
  • Participate in User Experience workshops and interviews, including Design Thinking workshops, and other research methods as required
  • Ensure change management is in place and support execution for User Experience initiatives
  • Lead overall risk identification and management for User Experience strategies
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to User Experience team members
  • Tracks latest trends, research and leading practices in User Experience to disseminate and apply as appropriate
  • Educate project participants and key stakeholders of relevant User Experience concepts

  • Strong expository writing and composition, with ability for technical writing when needed
  • Grounded with a solid knowledge and understanding of technology, keeps current with trends and releases
  • Include financial responsibility if applicable  


  • University Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in planning, leading and executing User Experience projects 
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Productivity Applications, i.e. Office 365, SharePoint
  • Familiarity with SAP Fiori or SAP Screen Personas applications is beneficial
  • Experience with development and promotion of mobility applications
  • Bilingualism (English, French) is an asset but not a requirement
